- The Workshop -
Swami Atma will introduce us to kriya yoga breathing practices that draw our awareness to the vital energy within us (prana) and awaken the kundalini power in a way that prepares the terrain and facilitates the coming into a deep state of meditation.
Interlaced with discourse about how to approach spirituality and meditation in a pragmatic way in today's world, Swami Atma will draw upon close to 30 years as a practitioner and teacher of traditional yoga. The workshop will be very interactive and adapt to the needs and interests of those participating so that it can best assist each participant in deepening his or her personal practice. While scheduled for four 2 and 1/2 hour segments, due to the dynamic nature of the discussions and practices, the afternoon sessions may extend a half hour beyond the 16h30 scheduled ending time.
Please be aware that there will be no hatha yoga practice involving yoga postures or exercises taught during this workshop, making it more accessible to those interested in the spiritual dimensions of yoga but who are not interested in asana practice.

Swami Atma
Originally from France, Swami Atma discovered yoga in the tradition of Swami Sivananda Saraswati of Rishikesh with Andre Van Lysebeth in the early 80s.
In 1987, Swami Atma took the International Sivananda Yoga Teachers Training Course (TTC) in Kerala, India. That year, he met his guru, Swami Vishnu-devananda, founder of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers (ISYVC). After the TTC, he joined the ISYVC and received sannyas initiation from Swami Vishnu-devananda in December 1991. During his 13 years in the ISYVC, Swami Atma directed the Chicago and Los Angeles branches and also led various teachings on hatha yoga, the Bhagavad Gita, and satsangs during Teachers' Training Courses in California, Upstate New York, Bahamas, Canada and India.
In December 2000, he left the Sivananda Organization and founded the Advaita Yoga Ashrama (AYA).
